Do you love the blues? Do you play the blues? Then come on out to the Shillelagh Club the last Saturday of the month, where you can not only hear, but also participate in the blues with some of the best players in the NY/NJ area! We’ll be holding an open jam hosted by blues great Joe Taino, so if you play guitar, drums, bass, or harp, you are invited to join in and showoff your chops.
Joe has opened shows for artists like, The Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, John Myall, Robin Trower, and Ruth Brown. He has frequently toured Europe, Japan, Brazil and the Caribbean, and can be seen at the best blues clubs as well as the major festivals. But don’t let that intimidate you, because he is also one of the coolest cats you’ll ever meet. Music kicks off at 8:00.
Additional Dates: January 26th 2019, February 23rd 2019.
Freaky Friday theme: Dress like a friend, another bar patron or your favorite bar tender! We will hold a costume contest with TWO prizes, one for best Freaky Friday costume and one for best Overall Halloween costume! Dress up to win or dress up for fun!
STEPHEN KRESS MEET AND GREAT Stephen Kress, Seton Hall Prep Alum and Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach will be behind the bar at Shillelagh Club THIS Thursday night October 4th from 5-7pm. You can chat with Stephen about the beer that we have been serving for a few weeks now!
Iron Beard IPA is an all American IPA that delivers a delicious flavor of Citra and Mosaic hops. Lower bittering additions and large late kettle and dry hop additions, make this an easy to drink hop pleasure. Iron Beard is distributed through 902 Brewing.
James “Whisky Jim” Patterson will be at the club to guide a tasting of Glenfiddich 12 Year, 15 Year and 18 Year Single Malt Scotches. It’s not a sit-down tasting. Just a casual evening with a knowledgeable guy.
He will also bring Alec Bradley Cigars rolled just for the occasion, because what goes better with whisky than cigars on the deck? Non-smokers can remain safely inside.
Jim’s dual careers as whiskey expert and professional fireman make him the PERFECT guy for us.
$25 gets you the tasting and a welcome Blood and Sand Cocktail and a cigar.
Our host is James (Whiskey Jim) Patterson. Jim was born and raised in the Irish/Scottish infused Kearny, NJ. Jim brings a degree in science paired with passion for whiskies that he has cultivated over a 10 year career that’s involved the discussion of raised Drams across the U.S. For 15 years Jim sold laboratory equipment and after 9/11 he traded in his briefcase for a helmet, becoming a Professional Fire Fighter here in New Jersey.
Tasting will include a Welcome Cocktail, Glenfiddich guided tasting and a hand rolled Cigar to be enjoyed on our deck. Cost: $25 per person. More.
